KPD. DEPRESSION ASSESSMENT QUESTIONNAIRE
Description: The questionnaire consists of 75 statements which respondent handles using a 4-grades scale. The items are selected to reflect basic symptoms related to decreasing mood such as energy loss, anhedonia, suicidal thoughts, pessimism and guilt-feeling.
Reliability: High and very high values of internal coherence coefficients and very high values of absolute stability coefficients.
Validity: Theoretical validity was confirmed by the correlations with BDI-II, personality assessment measures (MMPI-2, ACL), temperament assessment measures (UMACL), self-esteem measures (SES) and cognitive functioning measures (CTT, TFS, WAIS-R, MMSE). Criterial validity assessment was based on the analysis of scores in clinical groups (depressive and schizophrenic patients, brain damage and Parkinson disease patients, as well as patients with cognitive function disorders, the elderly, alcoholics, drug-addicts and the unemployed). Moreover, theoretical validity of the Self-Regulation Scale (SR) was confirmed by the correlation with other coping measures and its prognostic validity in the longitudinal research of depressive patients.
Norms: For students aged 16-19 and for non-learning adults aged 18-69; separately for men and women.
Applicability: KPD can be used both in clinical assessment and in scientific research. The psychometric indices obtained for KPD allow to recommend it not only for screening assessment (helping to select people with depression risk - also among school children) but also for individual assessment. It can also be very helpful in monitoring illness and therapy progress.
